October 17th 2014. I had the pleasure of taking my talents to The Ohio State University to rock their Homecoming for the very first time! The event: The 3rd Annual Black Tie Affair.
October 10th 2014. Can I be honest? I’m a be honest! I really had NO idea what to expect from Indiana State University’s Homecoming. The only thing I knew about their school was that the legend, Larry Bird, went there. I knew nothing about their “kick it” or even if they had a “kick it”. I had never heard of Terre Haute, IN, let alone, driven there, and just judging by the name alone… Yeah, I was totally wrong!!!
After killing it the night before in Huntsville, AL, I had to hop on an early flight back to Ohio the next morning for the next stop on the tour! As exhausted I was, I barely made the flight on time, plus I had another prior engagement in Cincinnati, OH before heading to Indianapolis, IN for the Classic that night.
On October 3, 2014, I headed down to Huntsville, AL to celebrate Alabama A&M’s Homecoming along side national recording artist, Yo Gotti, at the Von Braun Center. Almost 8,000 students, alumni, and friends filled the arena as we turned it up for their annual Homecoming Concert! Read more…
It’s been a long time coming and I am so excited to announce my FIRST ever solo tour as the “DJ Bandcamp” brand! Big ups to the “Black Bottle Boys” of Maybach Music Group for sponsoring my “Come Home With Camp” Tour, as well as all the schools on the itinerary that have invited me out:
Overall, 2014 has been another great year for the “DJ Bandcamp” brand thus far. In September, the 27th to be exact, the “Ohio Hip-Hop Awards” held their annual ceremony in Cleveland, OH at The Cleveland Performance Art Center. I knew I was nominated for an award, but, unfortunately, was unable to make it due to a prior engagement. And quite honestly, people from Youngstown, OH hardly ever win an OHHA so I assumed this would be “business as usual”. I didn’t campaign at all, minus a couple of retweets, nor did I really tell anyone I was nominated. Personally, I’m not a great loser, especially when it’s out of my control, so mentally I told myself that if I didn’t “go hard” to try and win, if I lost, I really didn’t lose! Logical right?? Lol
I’m not even sure where to begin! Let’s start at the mall, Easton Mall in Columbus, OH to be exact. I want to say it was a chilly rainy day in April when I received the call from Sean Herron, owner of Self Diploma, to ask if I was interested in headlining a concert on Fountain Square for their annual “Summer Concert Series.” My initial reaction was extreme shock, followed by “What! Are you serious???” He assured me he wasn’t kidding and all I could do was thank him from the bottom of my heart for such a grave opportunity to express my talent.
In May 2014, the 29th precisely, I received my first ever solo international booking; it just so happened to be in a country I’ve never been to, Seoul, Korea! As excited I was, I faced a HUGE setback just 2 days before leaving. I thought I could never recover in time, but by the grace of God, he seen me through it!
It seems like every time I re-dedicate myself to my website, a big event or new endeavor occurs which takes up more of my time and hinders me from being as active as I had planned. But this time, my hope is that things will be different! Even if I am side-swiped by a major opportunity, I plan on making my website a part of it, rather than continue to neglect it.
With that being said, let me update you all with what’s been going since the last time I posted something (March 2014):
November 4th, 2014. In lieu of Stalley’s debut album, “OHIO”, we went on-set to Revolt TV for exclusive interviews and performances. As a former DJ on BET’s 106 & Park, Revolt was quite similar as far as how the show is set up. Though it was my first time on the show, I hope it won’t be my last!
