July 4th, 2015. I landed at The Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans at 11:01 am. Sound check was at 3:00 pm, show-time was 8:00 pm!
I had never met Terrence prior to this evening but, based off of what I had heard about him and his personality via TV, I had a feeling he would be super cool! I opened up the dinner with a smooth soundtrack as guests walked in and took their seats. Guests included Omarion and his girlfriend Apryl, Angela Simmons, Angela Yee, DJ Envy, Lance Gross, and many more. About an hour and a half in, Biz Markie hopped on the DJ set and spun for a good 90 minutes before I came back on to close it down at 11 pm. It was an honor and a great pleasure to meet Biz, as well as learn a thing or two from him on the tables.
Once I got back on, however, I knew I had to get it rocking immediately! And that’s exactly what had happened. The event was supposed to end at 12:00 am, but we didn’t walk out of that ballroom until 1:30 am. It was such a privilege and humbling experience to be able to cater an event of that magnitude and celebrity.
